The Story Behind Soma Hula

Soma Hula was created by Dea Kaipo, a lifelong hula dancer, mother, and movement practitioner based in San Diego. She is also a certified Hot Hula Fitness instructor with native ancestral roots in Hawaii.
After being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, Dea began a deeper healing journey rooted in movement, mindfulness, emotional release, Hawaiian wisdom, and somatic healing.
Soma Hula was born from the belief that the body remembers everything, including stress, trauma, grief, joy, love, pain, and healing.
Through mindful hula-based movement, emotional awareness, and somatic healing practices, Soma Hula helps people reconnect with themselves from the inside out.
